The Pacific Institute of Languages, Arts and Translation (PILAT) located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea is dedicated to training Papua New Guineans and other Pacific Islanders for Bible translation, literacy and other language development work. PILAT has submitted an application to the PNG National Training Council to become a registered training organisation offering accredited courses in the TVET sector.

PILAT has a diverse teaching staff from the Bible Translation Association of PNG, SIL-PNG and other partner organisations. Many of PILAT’s staff have higher degrees in linguistics, literacy and biblical studies, and years of experience working in Papua New Guinea.

Training courses include those in biblical languages and biblical studies, literacy and multilingual education, translation and linguistics, Scripture use, and computing skills.
