Formal Training

Academic training through SIL Australia

Melbourne, Australia
SIL Australia training aims to equip intercultural workers in the areas of language learning, linguistics, translation, literacy and other language related roles. SIL Australia is committed to providing flexible, accredited courses to prepare people for service in a variety of local or international contexts.

SIL Australia offers Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma courses, accredited through a partner organisation. A Masters program is in the planning stages. It also offers a non-accredited Summer School (January/February) which provides necessary skills and confidence for those who need to learn another language or plan to work cross-culturally. The degree courses are for those planning to serve in a language development role such as translation, linguistics, literacy or language documentation.

SIL Pacific and SIL Australia enjoy a close partnership and many SIL Australia graduates take up roles with SIL in the Pacific region.
