The majority of the nations throughout the South Pacific identify themselves as Christian and the church plays a vital role in almost every language community. Often the catalyst for language development is a desire to read the Bible in the local language. SIL Pacific staff are motivated to work together with churches to see the Bible translated clearly, accurately and naturally into all the languages in the Pacific that need it.

In addition to translation of Scripture texts, we partner with language communities and other NGOs to facilitate the production of other books and materials. Communities value health, education and community development resources which enhance their quality of life.
